Championing the Critical Importance of Swim and Water Safety with Jenny McCuiston, Co-Owner of Goldfish Swim School, Birmingham, MI.
A lifelong swimmer, Jenny McCuiston is the proud co-owner of the flagship Goldfish Swim School in Birmingham, MI, and Goldfish Swim School Franchising, LLC. Recognizing a strong demand for quality swim lessons, Jenny sought out to create a child-focused facility to help kids become more confident and safer in and around the water. As a two-time Olympic Trials Qualifier with a degree in early childhood development and family studies, Jenny serves as the company’s visionary, as well as the thought leader in designing and executing the brand’s proprietary Science of SwimPlay® Curriculum, which focuses on teaching swim and safety skills while building character through guided play. She has served as the Curriculum Director and continues to hold the position of Goldfish Swim School’s thought leader today. As a mother of four, basic education surrounding water safety is an aspect that empowers and motivates her to continue to expand the franchise.
Jenny joins Kristen Hall, COO of Mother Honestly, to discuss how critical swim and open water safety is for kids and adults. Drowning is the #1 Cause of injury-related death for children ages 1-4, 2nd for kids ages 5-14 according to the Center for Disease Control & Prevention. Jenny and Kristen dive into the Goldfish Swim School model, how the company has pivoted during COVID19, and how Jenny involves her kids in the business. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, swim lessons can significantly decrease the risk of drowning for children as young as 1.
