Pregnancy, Maternity Leave, and Discrimination: Andrea Calvaneso shares her story
Andrea Calvaneso is a graduate of Oakland University and spent eight years in Automotive Marketing. She most recently served as a Marketing Manager for a large automotive dealership group in metro Detroit. Today, Andrea works as a stay at home mom to her three children and manages the household affairs with her husband.
Andrea joins Kristen Hall, COO of Mother Honestly, to share her story of losing her benefits right before her first pregnancy, returning to work for an employer who made little accommodations for breastfeeding, and how that shaped her decision to leave the workforce during her next pregnancy. Pregnancy should not be an existing condition. Mothers returning to work should not be shamed for having to breastfeed their child and require adequate support to be able to pump at their workplace. Andrea's story reminds all of us that we still have great strides to make in supporting new moms in the workplace.
